Amsterdam’s Saints & Stars Luxury Gym Expanding with FITBENCH During Pandemic

Known as “where metropolitan luxury meets a ‘wow’ experience,” the swank Saints & Stars in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, is a next level gym where infectious intensity is encouraged and expected.

“We’ve blended glamourous luxury, natural materials like wood and marble, and a true nightclub vibe – the perfect combination for our audience,” says Tom Moos, owner of the two popular studios. “We infuse fun, exceptional service, and addictive experiences.”

Saints & Stars was inspired by Moos’ early career at a large, multipurpose health club that tried to be everything to everybody, with a broad audience and multiple services that not all members used.

“I felt the need to focus on a target audience of 22-38-year-olds, to give them a place that embodied their values,” he explains. “Millennials want flexibility, like-mindedness, and community. And we cultivate an exciting, happy culture that provides our members with a sense of belonging.”

Part of that culture is embodied in the studio name, which connotes a unique brand where people can transcend themselves.

“Saints are our members, and they need to feel that in everything we do, including service, perfect flow, and the total experience,” Moos says. “And our Star trainers bring that experience and the results to give the Saints what they want.”

That experience is based on packed schedules of 60 group fitness classes, small group training workouts and personal training sessions each day between the two studios. Exercisers can choose from:

• Holy Box – Aqua punching bag and strength training
• Holy Shred – Treadmill and strength training
• Holy Booty – Stair climber and strength training
• Holy Build – Strength training
• Personal training sessions
• Open gym loaded with state-of-the-art equipment

Each class takes place in a striking studio, equipped with pulsating music, dramatic lighting, and brand new customized FITBENCH ONEs. These compact, adjustable benches house fitness accessories such as dumbbells, slam balls, FITBANDs, and more to streamline workouts and provide individual stations for each exerciser.

The FITBENCH is integral to the studio’s programming. “We make our schedule, floorwork, and limits based on the FITBENCH, and it gives us more than enough variety in classes,” notes Moos. “The fact that we can use it across four different disciplines speaks volumes.”

While the pandemic shut down the physical facilities, Saints & Stars kept members sweating and striving with a program of 40 classes per day at novel outdoor locations throughout Amsterdam. “We focused on all these cool places – like night clubs, hotels, and lounges –because they were empty during this time,” notes Moos.

During the studio closure, Saints & Stars also leant its expertise to exhilarating virtual workouts, with eight live streamed classes and six professional Instagram TV videos per day. Some videos had more than 30,000 streams.

With COVID-restrictions currently limiting the studios to 50 percent capacity, the Saints & Stars team continues to strive to satisfy members eager to capitalize on “the revolution for the body, mind, and soul.”

Currently concentrating its energy on its second studio, which successfully opened during the pandemic on July 1, 2020 with great anticipation, significant pre-sales, and high occupancy, Saints & Stars intends to open two more gyms in 2021. “We plan to continue raising the bar in the fitness industry,” promises Moos.
