January Studio Spotlight: Max Fitness
Promising “Today is the first day of the rest of your life,” Max Fitness boldly invites exercisers to embark on a journey to better health and fitness at its facilities in the Southeast U.S. region. Equipped with cardio and strength equipment, group ex classes, functional training areas, and more, Max Fitness health clubs range from approximately 23,000 square feet to 40,000 square feet, and serve from 4,000 to 6,500 members.
As part of that fitness journey, the innovative, science-based PUSH Zone workouts accommodate every fitness level and deliver an exhilarating experience that generates results. In the aptly named PUSH Zone 60-minute sweat fests, participants sport heart rate monitors while instructors lead them through multiple intervals of exercises through five heart rate training zones. Hearts are pounding, breathing is heavy, and the music is pumping while calories and fat are blasted.
Plus, thanks to the science of post-exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC), a bonus comes in the form of greater caloric expenditure for up to 36 hours after workouts. With constantly changing regimens and variable intensity, PUSH Zone is designed to empower individuals to conquer personal goals and eliminate plateaus.
“Our primary inspiration for PUSH was to bring the boutique experience into health clubs – to help attract and retain more members,” explains Charlie Lindsey, co-founder of Max Fitness with Justin Kanawyer. “Participants of all fitness levels are challenged to exert themselves in the ideal heart rate zones to achieve maximum caloric burn.”
Exertion is commanded through a variety of equipment and accessories, including treadmills, rowing machines, fan bikes, TRX suspension systems, and 10 new FITBENCH STUDIO units, which are each equipped with four sets of rubber-hexagon dumbbells (10, 15, 20, and 25 pounds), one 12-pound slam ball, and three sets of FITBANDS.
Max Fitness replaced a wall-mounted strength system with the compact FITBENCH in its locations in Columbus and Warner Robins, Georgia; Auburn, Alabama; and Panama City, Florida.
“The FITBENCH delivers a much more organized, versatile system, which has helped us streamline our approach to programming,” says Lindsey. “It has opened up a multitude of additional exercises as well, which provides a new level of motivation for participants.”
Because the FITBENCH serves as a self-contained station for each exerciser, it not only saves space, but also accommodates COVID-era concerns about physical distancing and not sharing equipment during the daily workouts.
“We’re always trying to show our members that we appreciate them, and one way to do that is by offering new, effective tools like FITBENCH,” Lindsey adds. “We’ve had all positive reactions from members and staff who love the design and look, the functionality and the efficiency.”
When it comes to this unique “gym in a box,” Lindsey acknowledges its universal appeal. “Really, all health clubs should have the FITBENCH because it’s the best out there, not to mention; it’s cool as hell!”
We are pumped about playing a key role in PUSH Zone workouts at Max Fitness, and we appreciate being a key component in participants’ fitness journeys!
